Happy Halloween!
Happy shouldn't be the mood for halloween. The greeting should be, "Have a spooky halloween" or something that is more indicative to the occassion. Here are some last minute costume suggestions:

PANTHER!!!
Wohoo! Panther just arrived in the mail! I can't wait to install it. I'll probably have to wait until after synchro this evening to install. Got too much work to do to stop for the install. I'm already drooling... ![]()

Eat your meat!
Covered in poo, eaten by flies, stored on the floor and butchered with moldly knives. That's the state that more than half of Canada's meat industry is in right now. Almost makes me want to be a vegetarian. Read the full story here.

2 A.M. and I'm still working...
...and I have to get up at 6 A.M. to get to work for 7. The hard drive on our second server (which is brand new) failed today and we've spent all day/night trying to get it back up. The site restore function is being a real jerk. ![]()

Moveable Type Upgrade
I updated moveabletype to 2.6.4 this morning. Hopefully that will fix the line break issue we have here. If I have time, a few more housekeeping items will be updated today.

Mad as Hell
I ruined my Powerbook G4 this morning. The powercable got caught under my chair and when i went to roll the chair, it pulled the powerbook off my desk onto the floor, causing significant damage to the case that will cost me several hundred dollars to repair. I can't believe a 3 foot fall would do such damage. ![]()

Paintball
Today was the most fun I've ever had playing paintball. We had 16 of us out there, shooting at one another- both vetrans and newbies. It was awesome. Some pics were taken by one of the kids, hopefully I can borrow the hard copy and scan some. I think Brad got the best welt of us all. My best welt was compliments of Amanda. ![]()

PureMusic
There is now a legal place to download music- in Canada! This is a good start, but PureMusic has a really difficult to navigate interface and it's Windows only.

Congrats Jay & Joelle
I hope this doesn't turn out to be false information like Joel's birthday post.
I literally learned this information from a friend of a friend of a friend's mom's friend, etc. etc. So here's the pre-liminiary scoop: Joelle had a baby girl last night.
She was 7 lb. 4 oz. Her name is Rebecca Elizabeth. Congratulations!!!

Happy Belated Birthday Joel!
Well I'm an insenstive cousin. I didn't post a birthday wish for Joel on time.
Sorry, Joel! I am bad at remembering birthdays. I have iCal set up to remind me of birthdays, but not everybody's is entered yet. Joel's is entered now, so his b-day wish should be on time next year.
We got to visit with Joel and his wife Sarah this weekend, as they were up for Thanksgiving. One of my internet friends thinks that Joel looks like Prince William. I dunno... maybe a bit. WhatdoyouthinK?

Surgery done, mom's fine
Just got the call from my dad, my mom's surgery is complete, and it went well.. ![]()
She's still in recovery now, but they'll be moving her back to her room shortly. The doctors said she had 2 hernias and they repaired them both. They also put a netting in front of her entire abdomen right up to her ribs, and said she shouldn't have any more hernias now.
They said there was a lot of pus inside, but no infection, which is good news. She should be back home Sunday at the earliest, but dad didn't know if that meant back home at home, or back home in the Dryden hospital. She'll need at at-home nurse to tend to her for at least the next month.

Entirely Wireless
I've been sick since Friday, spending much of my weekend lying on the couch, recovering. My Airport Extreme card arrived on Friday and I've been enjoying using my powerbook to access the router wirelessly, which connects to our wireless internet connection. It's so nice being tetherless.

Half Life 2 Stolen!
This is no good. Someone actually stole the source code for the much anticipated upcoming sequel game, Half Life 2. The thief installed keystroke recording software on programmer's computers. How did he get that software on there? A bug... in Microsoft Outlook allowed him to access the machines. This again brings me back to the question- why do companies rely on software that can be so detrimental to their business? After years of removing viruses off of client's PCs at work, where there's no reason they can't use a Mac or other alternatives, I still wonder why so many people choose to put their livelihoods at jeopardy like this. Who cares if it's what "everyone else" is using if what everyone else is using is insecure, virus-ridden crap?

Voted Today
Well I voted today. I believe strongly in a private ballot, so I'm not going to say how I voted here. Where I voted was strange though - at the catholic church! Whatever happened to separation of church and state? I know the location would just be due to where they could get, but what a weird message to send.
