it would be nice but I've got no money for a Ipod !

You don't need an iPod to use iTunes. It can synch your music with an iPod, but that's one of only many features.

I'm sharing my iTunes playlist over the wireless network with Allen on his PC as I'm typing this.

Okay just installed it.
Looks like winamp in most of it's features.
And it uses way more CPU ressource than winamp.
but it's nice and an easy player for sure.
But can't seem to find how to stream my mp3's over the net.
Ill go read the help me right now.

Guinevere at October 19, 2003 07:46 PM said:

You can't. The streaming is for lan. It used to have it over the 'net, but people ruined it by making hacks to download that music. There are still "unofficial" ways to stream w/it over the 'net.

Note that winamp can't encode or burn CDs and iTunes can. Winamp also can't play AAC.

Oh, I found out today at Brad's that it's for 2000 or XP only.

Actually, the beta release of winamp 5 can play AAC files. Howeve, I'll stick to my newly downloaded iTunes for Windows. I just wish that it would play windows media files, that would save me from having to convert more than half my music collection back to MP3.

There are a couple options to play AAC files in Windows, all pay-for add-ons (until the wmp beta), but none will encode AAC. Yes, it would be nice if iTunes played Windows Media Files, simply to make it easier for Windows users to migrate over =)
