World of Warcraft Open Beta

Blizzard Entertainment's highly anticipated upcoming game World of Warcraft began its open beta today. I tried to get into it, but couldn't. smiley You had to log into Fileplanet and sign-up for a key. However, with 100,000+ people all trying at the same time, their servers were dog slow. I kept getting time-out errors, as were tons of other people. There are hundreds of posts on Blizzard's forums from people getting errors from Fileplanet.

Unfortunately, all the keys are gone now. Fileplanet finally gave me this message, "The World of Warcraft Open Beta through FilePlanet is now closed. However, there's still time to get in! For another chance to get into the open beta, please visit http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/". However, now I can't get to worldofwarcraft.com. I guess it's being pounded to death now.

The demand to be on the open beta is so high, that I figured if I get a key, I'll just ebay it and use the $ toward the game when it comes out. However, Allen was upset enough about it, that I'll give him my key if I get one and he doesn't.

The full version of the game ships in 2 weeks.

Update: World of Warcraft updates are not being posted at battle.net as their main server is too overloaded.

Wohoo! We just played for a few hours, that was FUN! We'll be trying different races and classes, so we'll be starting from scratch a few times, so anyone can join and don't feel like you'll be far below our levels. We got to level 5 playing tonight.
