Niagara Region

NiagaraFalls_April06.JPG
Today Allen and I took a day trip to Niagara Falls and Niagara On The Lake. I've added a Niagara Region photo album here.

The actual falls were amazing, but the town was SO crowded! Allen said he could never remember a time when that many people were there before. There was a nice park across the street from the falls and a botanical garden, which is just started for this season. Neither Allen or I enjoyed the tourist trap of downtown Niagara Falls though. I remember really loving it when I went there in grade 8, but I guess my tastes have changed. smiley

We both much prefered the atmosphere in Niagara On The Lake. It's a quaint small town where you'll find antique shops, locally made and imported foods and tons of wine from the wineries surrounding the area. This is also where the Shaw theatre festival takes place every year. We shopped around a bit, I got some homemade Jams for my mom and some British Walnut Whips for myself. Allen and I also got a bottle of wine made from Niagara On The Lake grapes. I'd love to go back later in the summer and visit a winery when the grapes are growing.

What a great day. smiley

What a nice album Guin. I remember going there in grade 8 also. Didn't look as fancy then.
Had to Google map that one.
Thanks for the memories. smiley
